Half-Life: Resonance

Saturday August 24, 2002:

I fired up my computer and did a bit of research on this Black Mesa joint. I found its website. Apparently the place is way out in the gulch; middle of nowhere. And it’s huge. I mean, really huge.

They built it way back in the fifties as testing ground for rockets, and they’ve been adding to it ever since. And what do they do there? What don’t they do? Radiation, rocketry, theoretical physics, lasers, experimental propulsion, hydraulics, robotics, hydroelectricity. The works.

I kept scrolling through the search results, and eventually I found all these crazy threads about Black Mesa, and even more ‘alleged’ projects: AI, secret weapons, germ warfare, Nazi eugenics.

Man, this place is like Mecca for conspiracy theorists.

I also found a number of OSHA violations flagged against it. Seems as though Health and Safety isn’t a big priority there, if the number of lawsuits are anything to go by…
