Half-Life: Resonance

Friday May 16, 2003:

I woke up this morning with a weird feeling. Couldn’t put my finger on what it was. Like the universe was holding its breath. I tensed up as the train pulled up at the platform, and boarded.

The anxious feeling had faded by the time I pitched up at Security Facilities. But the damn door wouldn’t open and I was stuck waiting on it. When suddenly I heard a familiar voice shout behind me:

“Sucker!”

It was Gordon, riding the tram right behind me, all by himself.

“Aren’t you running late?” I shouted back.

“Yeah!” he replied, “Wish me luck in there!”

“Hey, catch me later,” I shouted after him, “I’ll buy ya a beer!”

He waved goodbye and I waved back, watching his little train move further and further away. I wasn’t worried for him. When I said I thought he’d change the world, I really meant it.

I turned back to the door and hammered on it with my fist. Just one of those days I guess…
